For a while it was just me.
A boy and the sea.
And the sand between my toes, calling.
By siren wails, by coastal plea
I design my castle of creativity.
Among the crustaceans, boy becomes King.
For a while it was just me.
But soon the others would intervene. Their voices claw, their voices scream. I know I’m not alone on this beach.
In center palace, my castle breached.
I can feel the ocean creep.
Now it is no longer me.
Might we live in harmony?
No. I know eventually
One will stay. One will retreat. So now I’ll hope in memories,
Of child’s fun and legacy,
To withstand the brunt of destiny Of drowning in my maturity.
