Submission Guidelines

Submissions for the 2023-2024 edition of The Tower are open from October 8th, 2023 to March 3rd 2024. The Tower accepts a wide range of both written and visual works of art. We are searching for prose, poetry, short stories, non-fiction, and fine art to be in our newest edition of the literary-arts magazine.

Overall Guidelines

- Those submitting must be current students at the University of Montevallo. If you graduated Fall semester and want to submit a piece, please contact us at tower@montevallo.edu and we will accommodate you.

- Up to five submissions can be submitted per person per year.

- Works submitted must be the original work of the artist.

- If you are submitting a non-fiction piece, please change the names of real life people in order for them to maintain privacy.

- Short stories, whether fiction or non-fiction, can be anywhere within 1 page to 16 pages double spaced.

- Subject matter is not limited; explicit language, mild gore, and topics in sexual nature are all welcome, however, discrimination and hate speech will NOT be tolerated in any way, shape, or forms as The Tower is a place for everyone.

- Prose, poetry, and short stories should be submitted as a word document.

- All fine art can be submitted as image files, however, if the image is not to the quality standard The Tower upholds, an email may be sent to request a higher quality representation of the work.

*Please note that longer pieces that cannot be fit into the physical edition of the magazine will be uploaded to the website. That being said, The Tower strives to get students' work seen in any capacity.*
