The Tree was rooted in the ground,

Though that's not where her spirit rested.

The Wind rustled through her branches,

As she stretched their green to the blue above.

He floated through the sky, concealed by the surrounding darkness as he purposefully dimmed his own vibrant light. The stars that gave off light around him, he believed, better deserved the admiration and attention that was given to the sky. His duty was instead to aid them, to make sure they always shone as brightly as they could. He didn't mind, truly.

I’ve seen dead animals on my runs. It’s inevitable. An overambitious cat underestimates the speed of a moving truck and you can figure it out from there. Never in my life had I seen a dead human. That was until this morning.
